WIPocalypse 2022

Question of the month:  Recap your accomplishments for the year!

Well, unfortunately I didn't reach my goal of finishing El Conquistador, life and especially work got in the way, but I did get really close.

My starting point for the year:

Last month:

Currently:

Added: 2 colors, 10457 stitches

Progress for the whole year: added 89 colors,  136227 stitches

Questions from the previous months:

Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!
My eighth year doing the WIPocalypse! :DD

For those who visit my blog for the first time, my name is Maria, and I've been stitching for more than 20 years. I only have 1 goal for this year: to finish El Conquistador, and if I still have time after that, I'll return to my rotation. I'm also doing #NoNewStarts2022 again, last year really wasn't a problem for me, and this year will be even easier :D

January: Describe your stitching style – are you a one-at-a-time stitcher? Do you stitch on rotation? Are you a chaos wrangler? Are you comfortable in your current stitching style, or are you still searching for that stitching zen?

A looooong, long time ago I used to be a one-at-a-time stitcher, but then I discovered blogs, and later Flosstube, and all you guys who started various wips have corrupted me :DDDD I currently have 9 wips in rotation (or rather will have them again once I finish El Conquistador), and since I'm stitching everything extreme cross country, 1 color at a time, I finish off all the stitches of 1 color, then move on to the next wip. I'm definitely comfortable in this stitching style, and while I never say never, I don't really see myself changing this method :DD

February: What stitch-a-longs (SALs) are you participating in this year?

Just #NoNewStarts2022 on FB. Nothing else.

March: Tell us about a technique, designer, pattern, or anything else in stitching that you’ve been nervous or afraid to try.

I can't really think of anything... Especially since I'm basically exclusively stitching full coverage, and mostly my own charts.

April: What is your favorite store (either online or brick and mortar) to purchase your supplies?

Used to be 123Stitch, but since they can't ship DMC to Europe anymore, it's whoever I can find selling DMC and Zweigart Easy Count the cheapest on Ebay.

May: Retreats and seminars – have you ever been to any stitching events? If so, tell us about them!

Nope, not yet - hope that one day I'll get to attend one.

June: Half-year recap:  How are you doing with your goals so far this year?

Well, due to work and it stealing more of my stitchy time than I thought, I'm about a month and a half behind my schedule, but still hoping to finish El Conquistador by the end of the year.

July: What five patterns do you really want to purchase (or start) right now?

Ooooh, basically any and all patterns from my future plans page :DDDD

August: Have you been participating in gatherings via online chats (Zoom, Google Meet, etc) during the COVID pandemic? If so, what have been the best formats in your opinion?

No, I haven't.

September: Are you a seasonal stitcher? If so, which seasons do you find yourself more productive or less productive?

No, not really. I'm equally productive all year, except when work takes away my stitchy time :D

October: Do you prefer Halloween or Christmas stitching?

Neither. I don't stitch seasonal pieces, not to mention we don't celebrate Halloween here in Hungary.

November: When do you begin planning your stitching goals for the next year?

I haven't really planned anything the last couple of years because I've been doing #NoNewStarts, so I've just been sticking to my rotation. But I already have everything planned for next year, including the 8 new projects I'm gonna start and their start date :D But after that I won't really have to plan anything for the next couple of years again :DD
