So, I think I did pretty good this year :D One lesson I learned: I'm never, ever ever gonna stitch anything page by page! I hoped the page lines would come out from Dreams of Gaudí after washing and ironing it, but no. Not a bit. Another lesson I learned: If I set myself a concrete goal, like finishing Gaudí by the end of this year, I have no problem putting one (or all) of my wips aside :D Let's hope this will work next year too, and I can finish my Arrow poster by the end of 2017! :DDD
This month's progress:
Arrow (aka The Green Needle aka Vertigo):
Last month:
This year's progress: 29 colors, 65552 stitches
At the end of last year:
Dreams of Gaudí:
Currently:
FINISHED!!!
This year's progress: 31 pages, 104160 stitches
Flash vs. Arrow:
This year's progress: 24 colors, 9495 stitches
El Conquistador:
Questions from the previous months: Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!
I'm back! :) I enjoyed the WIPocalypse so much last year, there was
no way I'd miss out on it this year! A couple of words about me: my name
is Maria, and my cross stitching addiction started more than 15 years
ago. I also love to knit, and if you take a look at my wips you can
probably tell which tv shows I'm obsessed with (I guess I need a good
Legends of Tomorrow poster sooner or later, as well as a Daredevil one
:DDDD)
I only have one set goal for this year: to
finish Dreams of Gaudí by the end of the year. For this reason I made
the hard decision to put away my Montecristo until Gaudí is finished,
but it's gonna come back as soon as I've put in the last stitch! :D
February: If you have any of your pieces on display in your home which attracts the most plaudits?
Well, I only have 4 finishes framed on my walls, and they get equal amount of praise, however, the one that got the best compliment was my Solar Flare:
When I went to the framer's to get it, the ladies working there were like "Oh no! You're taking it away so soon? We've spent the whole week admiring it!" :D I ended up sending them the pattern (since it was my own chart, as usual), I wonder if they ended up actually stitching it...
March: Do you use hoops, stretcher bars, lap stands or Q snap frames and why?
No, I don't use anything, I just stitch in hand. The way I stitch, my needle never goes all the way under the fabric (meaning I don't pull out the needle and thread all the way under the fabric and then go back up), so I like being able to bunch up the fabric any way I like. Having the fabric be taut in a frame or hoop would make this much harder.
April: What do you listen to while stitching?
I usually watch tv (the episode I'm watching has to be very, very exciting for me to not stitch during it :D) or Flosstube. :)
May: What were you stitching this time last year and have you finished it?
Let's see... on May 22, 2015 I've just barely started the Flash vs. Arrow poster :D This is what it looked like back then:
And you can see my progress since then right here :D
June: Do you find yourself more productive with stitching in summer or winter?
Seasons make no difference, I stitch just as much during the summer as the winter :))))
July: If you are not participating in the challenge: tell us how this year’s stitching is going for you so far, and if you’re meeting your stitching goals so far for the year.
It's going pretty well, and it definitely looks like I'm gonna reach my goal and finish Dreams of Gaudí, probably way before the end of the year! :D
August: Have you ever read any fictional books that involve embroidery? If so, give us some recommendations?
No, unfortunately not. But I'd love to, so any recommendations are welcome! :)
September: Tell us a story about the journey you took through one of your completed pieces.
October: What online stitching communities do you enjoy?
I'm a member of a couple of Facebook groups, but I only post occasionally. And I got really hooked on Instagram! I'm actually posting daily progress pics there (if you want to find me, I go by hapaddict there). I also really love Flosstube, and who knows, I might even give it a try one day :D

November: What pattern (or designer) is on your must-try-to-stitch bucket list?
There's no specific designer... as for patterns, check my page for my future projects here :)
I always enjoy looking at your progress.
VálaszTörlésThank you, Cathy! :)
TörlésYou have so many gorgeous projects! Happy stitching!
VálaszTörlésThank you, happy stitching to you too! :)
TörlésDreams of gaudi is really coming along. Gorgeous progress.
VálaszTörlésThank you! :)
TörlésGreat progress on all your lovely projects =)
VálaszTörlésSolar Flare looks amazing and since it is always hard to capture the beauty of cross stitch in a picture, I'm sure it's even more impressive in real life =)
Thank you! :) It does look pretty good ;))))
TörlésThis some gorgeous progress ...
VálaszTörlésThank you! :)
TörlésGreat progress. I too have to set my other WIPs aside and work on just one. I want to finish my first large project. I enjoy watching all of your progress. Beautiful.
